Genevieve Cecelia (Wilkinson) Young, Born January 05, 1926 in Elizabeth New Jersey and died October 19, 2012 in Carson City Nevada. A widow of Robert Franklin Young born January 18, 1918-died August 13, 1989, marriage May 18, 1946 Elizabeth New Jersey.
Children; Jeanne Roberta (Young) McIntyre of Carson City, born May 13, 1947, Robert Joseph Young of Salem, Oregon, born July 24, 1951, Sherry Anne Young of Eugene Oregon, born April 09, 1956.
Grandchildren; Joseph Robert Caputo born November 7, 1969-died July 16, 2003. Donna Starr Caputo born September 12, 1974.
Great-Grandchildren; Joseph Brian Landeck and Melaynie Starr Ware Caputo born to Donna Starr Caputo.
Parents; Joseph Patrick Wilkinson & Anne Marie (Mason) Wilkinson. . She always was proud of her Mother& Father and she often shared stories which showed her pride in them.
Siblings: Joseph Patrick Wilkinson Jr, James Steven Wilkinson, Robert Louis Wilkinson, Anne Marie (Wilkinson) Kuron, Mary Jane (Wilkinson) Erwood, Joan Anne Wilkinson. She loved her brothers and when they teased her she would play along with them even though she had a temper. She loved her sisters but they did not always get along. All nieces and nephews were loved.
Genevieve attended Catholic schools in Elizabeth New Jersey and graduated from Sacred Heart School. Afterwards she worked at local department stores and local sweet shops. She met her husband Robert when he was in Elizabeth on leave from the Army. They fell in love and they married after Robert’s army time.
Genevieve had a few nicknames. Bob called her “Rebel” when they were dating. She liked to be called “Jenny Playing pinochle or poker was a favorite pastime for her and her family when they were young.
Gambling was prominent with the Wilkinson family and they would often get together and play for money. When her family was young they would get-together for dinners and good times.
As a young woman, Jenny and her sister would enjoy roller skating at a local skate rink. Movies and movie stars were enjoyed. Favorites were Frank Sinatra, Mario Lanza, Claudette Colbert and Nelson Eddy. Loving music the way she did, she would put it loud so she could hear it as she did her housework.
Jenny also was a good cook and later she got lazy and took short cuts in cooking. She took pride in keeping a clean home. From top to bottom, her house was immaculate. She enjoyed her backyard and home in Woodbridge, New Jersey. She worked hard at keeping in nice for her family. Jenny would love to feed the birds. She had some birdfeeders’ and would watch them from the kitchen window.
As a wife, she in her marriage had many problems. In other ways, she was a good person and in some ways she loved her family although she did not show it in affection.
As a Mother, she was tough and not affectionate so as a result her children and she were not close. Later, two of her children left home and remained estranged. She has a way of pushing people away and not caring any longer.
Jenny’s hobbies were limited. Bingo and horse races were a frequent pastime. And sometimes for entertainment we would go swimming at the beach and go on rides & have eats at the Jersey boardwalks. Later, she enjoyed being a grandmother and we would all enjoy times together.
