Obituary for Margaret Golden

Margaret Golden was born March 31, 1942 and left this world June 19, 2016 to be with God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Golden, the love of her life, her son Michael, her mother, her father, and older sister. She has left her twin sister Maureen Rowley of Meridian, Idaho, daughter Darlene Turner of Newport, Washington, along with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was an amazing aunt, friend, and beautiful soul who even in the midst of her own pain still asked how you were. She worked for Walmart in Reno until her body could no longer function well enough to do so. Her friends were her world; each one of them she loved deeply. She saw the good in the world even as her own was falling apart from illness. She once told me a story of a homeless man, dirty, tired, and old, who had stopped in front of Walmart to sit and rest. She herself was sitting at her bus stop after a day of work, tired and worn out, as she watched this gentleman, hunched over and sad with what seemed like the weight of the world on his shoulders, be approached by a woman of obvious social standing exit the store, walked over to him, stuck out her hand and introduced herself and then proceeded to have a conversation. When it was all said and done the woman left, and the man who previously had shown signs of exhaustion was sitting up beaming, knowing there are angels among us.

“That’s the way it should be all the time,” she said.

That was Margaret, that was my mother, a woman who believed in passing it forward no matter how little it seemed.
