Don passed away 1/27/2012 while holding the hand of his beloved wife.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 54 years, Dinky Wardle, his son Kirk, his 4 grandsons, Jaime, Dan, Marcus and Dirk, 6 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Joey Knezivich. He was preceeded by sister-in-law Katie Gaines.

Don was an avid lover of the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. This was no doubt the essance of Don.

He was a long time resident of Gerlach, NV. While he resided there he worked for many years with the Gerlach Improvement District and served on the homeowners association board.

Don spent many hours working with the Senior Center to help improve the services offered to the local seniors.
For many years he drove the Senior Center bus to Reno/Sparks, taking the seniors to their appointments and grocery shopping. This quickly became something he loved to do. He felt very strongly about helping his friends and neighbors of Gerlach.

Due to Don’s devotion to the care of the seniors in Gerlach, in lieu of flowers, the family is setting up a memorial trust in Don’s name and all donations will go to the Gerlach Senior Center. Donations can be sent to PO Box 57 Gerlach, NV 89412 or brought to the memorial service.

A memorial service will be held at the home of Don and Dinky (230 Elm St Gerlach, NV) on February 18th from 11am to 3pm. The family invites all who knew Don to come and celebrate his life with us.
